“Treat Others the Way You Would Want to Be Treated”

Q: Tell us a few things about you! Your background, your childhood and early beginnings!

I am an aspiring individual eager to embark on a journey of professional growth and development with a passion for diplomacy and international relations and a commitment to excellence. My journey has been driven by a relentless belief in the power of diplomacy to create positive change and uphold the fundamental right of every individual on this planet.

I am dedicated to championing the cause of human rights and work tirelessly to raise awareness, advocate for marginalized communities and promote peace, justice and equality. What truly sets me apart is my hands-on experience in Model UN simulations and legal internships where I honed leadership, diplomacy, communication skills. These experiences have not only deepened her understanding of the legal, diplomacy and international relations industry but also fueled my passion to make a meaningful impact. I am eager to contribute my knowledge and enthusiasm to the institute and collaborate with professionals who share dedication towards individual liberty and limited government intervention.

I enjoy reading, learning languages and yoga believing in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This mentorship opportunity aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and I am enthusiastic about the prospects of gaining invaluable experience.

I am excited to join the GTF programme where I intend to learn, grow and make a positive impact. I am confident that this will be the next step towards achieving my professional goals and making a meaningful contribution to the legal, social work and diplomacy field.

Q: What are some of the key challenges in your society currently?

Tribalism, Nepotism, Sectarianism, Discrimination based on religion, gender, sexual harassment.

Q: Share with us some of the hurdles that you had to overcome in your life so far? How did you handle them?

Discrimination and disrespect, as long as I know that I am on the right track, I don't have to justify my actions to the other parties. I keep to myself.

Q: Why is the role of a mentor important for you?

I believe a mentor guides and sets me on the right path to achieve my dreams and goals working hand in hand.

Q: Do you have a lesson that life has taught you and you would like to share?

Quite a lot, I don't trust and expect less from people in that if they do something that hurts my feelings or change drastically, I would have seen it coming.

Q: Name a project, a foundation or a person in your country that you think is doing great work in helping improve other people's lives!

The foundations I was familiar with closed in the country a few years ago when the President declared war on NGOs which is why the UNHRC pulled out of Uganda.

Q: What are some of the challenges that women in your country face and what efforts are being made towards gender equality?

Sexual harassment, underpay, exploitation. Nothing much is being done because we have laws in place but they aren't implemented.

Q: Share with us a motto you live by.

Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

Q: If you had all the money needed to launch the project of your dreams, can you describe what you would do?

I would be able to embark on a project that caters for marginalized groups of people particularly refugees and the the LGBTQ community. I would provide educational services, health seminars and skill building trainings.
