Lilian Kway


Lilian Marselian Kway is a committed food scientist and nutrition advocate from Tanzania, passionate about empowering women and children through education and sustainable food systems. She holds a degree in Food Science and Technology from SokoineUniversity ofAgriculture, graduating in 2024 with Upper Second Class honours (GPA 4.1/5).

Lilian has actively contributed to food security and nutrition initiatives. She currently volunteers at the Tanzania Industrial Research and Development Organization (TIRDO) as a Food Lab Analyst and Research Assistant, focusing on research and innovation in food preservation and quality control. Her research on the use of Moringa oleifera leaf extract in tomato preservation highlights her commitment to sustainable practices.

In 2024, she presented the abstract "Enhancing Food and Nutrition Security Through Promotion of Underutilized Indigenous African Leaf Vegetables" at the International Students Summit hosted by Tokyo University of Agriculture. This experience deepened her expertise in global food systems.

Lilian is also a mentor and advocate for girls’ education, empowering 500 girls through AfricAid’s Binti Shupavu project.

Lilian aspires to establish her own organization focused on improving nutrition and empowering marginalised communities. With a vision for transformative change, she aims to collaborate with global organizations like the FAO to address malnutrition and promote sustainable development
