Rachanda Shafei
Barrister, 33 Bedford Row
Rachanda grew up in a town outside of London in a normal state school where most students aim to achieve 5 GCSEs between the grades A-C. As a child of 2 immigrant parents, they set high reaching academic targets beyond what was expected at school or what was expected of her school friends and ensured she had the right mentorship available to help her navigate her journey. Then after years of education and training, Rachanda was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Inner Temple in March 2019 and accepted tenancy at 33 Bedford Row.
Rachanda has been instructed in over 800 cases with a strong focus on family law. She has a very busy practice specialising in ancillary relief and private child work representing both fathers and mothers in proceedings primarily in instances where there are allegations of domestic abuse. Throughout her childhood, Rachanda had a commitment to charity work, and that presents itself in her professional work today. She accept instructions through Advocate, the Bar Councils pro-bono charity, and she fundraises for the London Legal Support Trust which supports over 120 organisations each year helping them to provide free pro bono legal advice to those most in need of help.
