Ryan Winch, 25 years old, is a Canadian currently based in Toronto, Canada.
After completing his MA in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Ryan spent 6 months working at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Bangkok, Thailand as a Communications Junior Professional Consultant. Following this, he moved to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to work as a Resource Mobilization & Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with Equality for Growth, an organization seeking to empower women working in Tanzania’s informal sector. Currently, Ryan works as a Research and Direct Support Consultant with CIVICUS, as a part of their DataShift programme.
Ryan is particularly passionate about environmental issues, especially those related to the global extinction crisis and climate change. He works as a volunteer with WildAid’s East Africa team, helping to increase awareness about the harms of poaching through WildAid EA’s #PoachingStealsFromUsAll campaign.
Ryan’s hope is that the Global Thinkers Mentors programme will help him to think more deeply about how he can generate positive change through his career and to focus him in on career paths that best suit his skills. He looks forward to having enlightening discussions from his mentor and to being able to learn from their experiences.
Ryan Winch's mentor is David Stringer-Lamarre.
