Sonja Lokar
Executive Director of the CEE Network for Gender Issues
Sonja is from Slovenia.
Sonja is a sociologist and has been a political activist from her youth. She is also an elected politician, a reformer and Secretary General of her parliamentary social democratic party between 1989-1991. She is a feminist and advocate for women’s human rights in Slovenia and internationally. As Executive Director of the CEE Network for Gender Issues and the Chair of the Stability Pact Gender Task Force she has been working with women activists across all social, ethnic, religious and political divides in 21 countries. As president of the European Women’s Lobby she works all over the European Union on Women issues and for the political empowerment of women.
