Barikisu Kassim
Barikisu Kassim is a postgraduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Geography at the University of Education, Winneba. She is from Kumasi, Ghana, and has nurtured a strong passion for environmental sustainability and the relationship between people and nature since childhood.
Her early involvement in community environmental projects—including biodiversity protection, community clean-ups, and tree planting—sparked her commitment to conservation. During senior high school, she joined the Environment Care Club, and later at the university level, became an active member of Youth Mappers, the Climate and Ecosystem Restoration Network (CERN), and the Environmental Care and Sustainability Alliance (ECSA), where she engaged in environmental advocacy and field activities.
Academically, her studies have deepened her understanding of land use, climate change, and natural resource management. She has successfully completed several environmental field projects that strengthened her research, data collection, and geographic mapping skills.
She aspires to become a leading environmental researcher and advocate, contributing to policies and initiatives that promote sustainable development and enhance community resilience in Ghana and beyond.
