ABOUT GTF

Global Thinkers Forum (GTF) is a non-profit organisation with a core mission to promote values-based thinking and accountability in leadership. Over the years we have been building our diverse network of thought leaders to share their vision for the future, create meaningful conversations and to achieve positive change through our mentoring programmes that support youth and women around the world.

The Forum is London-based and was incubated at Oxford University’s Said Business School in 2011. It was launched in 2012 under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania al Abdullah in Amman, Jordan.

Global Thinkers Forum has a network of influencers and partners that reach more than 70 countries around the world and engages leaders across business, philanthropy, academia, science, civil society, NGOs and government. GTF has partnered with some of the world’s leading brands, organisations and foundations and has an advisory board consisting of social impact focused leaders from over 20 countries.

‘Athena’ and ‘Telemachus’ are the most diverse mentoring programmes internationally, linking mentees with professionals and experts from different countries in support of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We grow our reach through partnerships with Foundations and Organisations regionally and internationally.

WHY MENTOR

mentor (μέντωρ< Greek)

1. (in the Odyssey) a loyal adviser of Odysseus entrusted with the care and education of Telemachus.

2. an influential senior sponsor or supporter.

Mentoring is conveying the experience, gained wisdom, insights and lessons that one has learned in life. Mentors are like beacons. They are guiding lights for younger people. The aim is to help them understand their potential, their strong points and also inspire and motivate them.

Being a good mentor also takes an emotional commitment that is very much like parenting in its drive to help teach a person succeed in its goals.

Our mentors are individuals who have a very successful track record in fields such as: Governance & Public Policy, Accountable Leadership, Business, Entrepreneurship, Media, Innovation, Technology, Academia. They also represent thirty eight countries and five continents.

TELEMACHUS & ATHENA 2024

THE MENTORS

THE MENTEES

OVERVIEW

Our mentoring programmes ‘Telemachus’ and ‘Athena’ connect mentees with thought leaders and social-impact focused individuals. Telemachus benefits youth between 18-29 from around the world, while Athena focuses on women above the age of 22 and without setting an age limit.

GTF mentees are provided with a personalized development opportunity to address individual learning needs. This opportunity helps them over a period of eight months to develop new skills and expertise, and to enhance, enrich and expand their professional and personal perspectives.

As part of this process, our mentees set their own objectives and targets and, with support from their mentors, they complete these successfully.

The programmes contribute towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
